Vladimir Bukovksy, the 63-year old former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union. In a speech he delivered in Brussels last week Mr Bukovsky called the EU a “monster” that must be destroyed, the sooner the better, before it develops into a fullfledged totalitarian state.

HLUTI ÚR RÆÐU HANS:  

It looks like we are living in a period of rapid, systematic and very consistent dismantlement of democracy. Look at this Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill. It makes ministers into legislators who can introduce new laws without bothering to tell Parliament or anyone. My immediate reaction is why do we need it? Britain survived two world wars, the war with Napoleon, the Spanish Armada, not to mention the Cold War, when we were told at any moment we might have a nuclear world war, without any need for introducing this kind legislation, without the need for suspending our civil liberaties and introducing emergency powers. Why do we need it right now? This can make a dictatorship out of your country in no time.

Today’s situation is really grim. Major political parties have been completely taken in by the new EU project. None of them really opposes it. They have become very corrupt. Who is going to defend our freedoms? It looks like we are heading towards some kind of collapse, some kind of crisis. The most likely outcome is that there will be an economic collapse in Europe, which in due time is bound to happen with this growth of expenses and taxes. The inability to create a competitive environment, the overregulation of the economy, the bureaucratisation, it is going to lead to economic collapse. Particularly the introduction of the euro was a crazy idea. Currency is not supposed to be political.

I have no doubt about it. There will be a collapse of the European Union pretty much like the Soviet Union collapsed. But do not forget that when these things collapse they leave such devastation that it takes a generation to recover. Just think what will happen if it comes to an economic crisis. The recrimination between nations will be huge. It might come to blows. Look to the huge number of immigrants from Third World countries now living in Europe. This was promoted by the European Union. What will happen with them if there is an economic collapse? We will probably have, like in the Soviet Union at the end, so much ethnic strife that the mind boggles. In no other country were there such ethnic tensions as in the Soviet Union, except probably in Yugoslavia. So that is exactly what will happen here, too. We have to be prepared for that. This huge edifice of bureaucracy is going to collapse on our heads.

This is why, and I am very frank about it, the sooner we finish with the EU the better. The sooner it collapses the less damage it will have done to us and to other countries. But we have to be quick because the Eurocrats are moving very fast. It will be difficult to defeat them. Today it is still simple. If one million people march on Brussels today these guys will run away to the Bahamas. If tomorrow half of the British population refuses to pay its taxes, nothing will happen and no-one will go to jail. Today you can still do that. But I do not know what the situation will be tomorrow with a fully fledged Europol staffed by former Stasi or Securitate officers. Anything may happen.

We are losing time. We have to defeat them. We have to sit and think, work out a strategy in the shortest possible way to achieve maximum effect. Otherwise it will be too late. So what should I say? My conclusion is not optimistic. So far, despite the fact that we do have some anti-EU forces in almost every country, it is not enough. We are losing and we are wasting time.

FORSETINN OKKAR STERKASTI LEIÐTOGI.

Forsetinn, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, er okkar langhæfasti leiðtogi að mínum dómi.  Hann hefur nánast einn leiðtoga skýrt mál okkar og stöðu vegna ICESAVE erlendis.  Og ötullega.  Mest af öllu kom forsetinn í veg fyrir ólýsanlega niðurlægingu íslensks almennings þegar hann skrifaði ekki undir kúgunarsamninginn. 

Hinn almenni maður hefur líka orðið að verjast í erlendum fjölmiðlum þar sem ekki gerði ríkisstjórnin það.  Ríkisstjórnin hefur aldrei komið fram opinberlega og lýst yfir að krafa Breta, Hollendinga og Evrópusambandsins um ríkisábyrgð á ICESAVE standist engin lög.  Og enn síður staðið í lappirnar gegn kröfunni.  Og það er forkastanlegt.  Ögmundur gerði það að vísu en við misstum hann að lokum ofan í svartholið. 

Jóhanna hefur frá upphafi málsins heimtað ríkisábyrgð.  Óhæfu Jóhönnu hefur verið haldið fast uppi af hverjum einasta manni í hennar flokki og ríkisstjórninni sem heild, ICESAVE-STJÓRNINNI.   Ítrekað skal Jóhanna fara fram opinberlega og eyðileggja málstað okkar lofandi öllum heiminum að við ætlum að borga ´SKULDIR OKKAR´ eins og það komi ríkisábyrgð á ICESAVE við.

Óskiljanlega Evrópuríkislöngunin hefur verið mesti skaðvaldurinn.  Vilji og ætlun flokksins og fylgjenda var að fallast á allar grimmilegu og ólöglegu kröfur evrópsku ríkjanna nánast óséðar og styggja þau ekki.  Gæti skemmt fyrir ´þið vitið´.  Og stefna ríkiseigum í stórhættu.  Þann veikleika hafa rukkararnir oft notað, dæmin eru endalaus.  Og gera enn í dag eins og ekkert væri:

Óttast fordæmi Íslands

Forysta VG og mest allur flokkurinn hlýddu eins og mýs þó nokkrir þeirra hafi hafnað kúgunarsamningnum.  Víst vildi Steingrímur alls, alls, ALLS ekki að Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn kæmist aftur að völdum og ætlaði að hanga og hanga límdur við sætið þó hann sökkti landinu í sæ fyrir.

Mr Grimsson had refused to sign the latest repayment plan, triggering the referendum.

Iceland's President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson has said that the UK and the Netherlands will get back the 4bn euros (£3.5bn) they paid when Iceland's banking system collapsed in 2008.

That is despite the country rejecting the latest repayment plan in a referendum at the weekend.

Mr Grimsson told the BBC assets from the collapsed bank Landsbanki would "in all likelihood" cover what was owed.

The UK has said the matter will go to an international court.

Iceland's three main banks collapsed in October 2008.

Landsbanki ran savings accounts in the UK and the Netherlands under the name Icesave.

When it collapsed, the British and Dutch governments had to reimburse 400,000 citizens - and Iceland had to decide how to repay that money.

Guarantee question.

 

The weekend result marked the second time a referendum has rejected a repayment deal.

Mr Grimsson said that it was not an issue about paying or not paying, but a question of whether there is a state guarantee and how that would be interpreted under the European regulatory framework.

"I think the primary message [from the referendum] is that before ordinary people are asked to pay for failed banks, the assets inside the estate of these banks should be used to pay the subs," Mr Grimsson told Radio 4's Today.

"That is why the people of Iceland emphasised that Britain and the Netherlands are going to get certainly up to $9bn out of the estate of Landsbanki.

"The first payment will be this December, and in all likelihood this will cover what was paid by Britain and the Netherlands two years ago.

"But to ask for a state guarantee and that ordinary people should shoulder the responsibility is highly doubtful and definitely can be disputed within the European legislative framework."

But he added that if the matter did end up in an international court, "of course" Iceland would abide by the court's ruling.

Nú koma ICESAVE stuðningsmenn hver á fætur öðrum upp úr holunum og rakka niður forsetann fyrir að vinna vinnuna sína og verja lýðræðið í landinu.  Og verja þjóðina gegn fordæmalausri kúgun og löglausri kröfu bresku og hollensku ríkisstjórnanna,  Evrópusambandsins og íslensku ríkisstjórnarinnar, ICESAVE-STJÓRNARINNAR og annarra norrænna ríkisstjórna sem eru sorglega illa upplýstar í málinu. 

Líka menn sem sjálfir hafa löngu glatað öllu trausti landsmanna eins og Björn Valur Gíslason og Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir.  Eins og þau tvö hafi nú efni á að gagnrýna nokkurn mann, hvað þá rakka niður forsetann sem nánast einn Íslendinga hefur varið okkur á erlendri grundu.  Nú hefur sænskur dálkahöfundur bættst í hópinn og rakkar niður forsetann í sænsku blaði og það er bæði óþolandi og sorglegt. 

ICESAVE-STJÓRNIN og stjórnarflokkarnir hafa skaðað okkur stórkostlega erlendis og ekkert varið okkur, nema Ögmundur.  Og hann glataðist okkur samt í lokin.  Ýmsir landsmenn og líka heimurinn er alltof illa upplýstur um málið og lætur eins og við séum að ræna Breta og Hollendinga þegar það sanna er að við, íslenskir skattþegar og íslenska ríkið, skuldum þeim ekki neitt.  Enginn dómur hefur fallið þar um. 

Þar fyrir utan fá Bretar og Hollendingar gífurlegar fjárhæðir úr þrotabúi Landsbankans, 7-9 MILLJARÐA Bandaríkjadala örugga eða yfir það og 700-900 MILLJARÐA ísl. króna minnst eða yfir 1000 MILLJARÐA.  Og ICESAVE-STJÓRNIN og stjórnarflokkarnir segja ekki orð um það.  Nei, steinþegja það í hel eins og allar lagalegar varnir okkar sem við nú þegar höfum í málinu og höfum alltaf haft.

Alltaf finnst mér jafn-merkilegt þegar Evrópuríkis-inngöngusinnar stagast út í hið óendanlega á undanþágunum sem við munum fá við inngöngu í Evrópuríkið.  Eða yfirtöku öllu heldur.  Hvaða máli geta undanþágur skipt fyrir okkur?  Ekki nokkrum sköpuðum hlut.  Hvað ætlum við að gera þarna inn ef við þurfum undanþágur fyrir að fá af þeirra náð að vera enn sjálfstætt ríki??  Og fyrir utan það er vitað að engar varanlegar undanþágur fáist þarna.   Halda menn sig kannski þá fyrst verða menn með mönnum??  Ætlum við að gangast undir erlent ríki og miðstýringarveldi fyrir nokkrar ýsur sem eru okkar??

Engu máli skiptir heldur fyrir afkomendur okkar næstu aldirnar hvað stendur í lögunum akkúrat núna, hvort lögin þar eru elskuleg, fáránleg eða vond.  Og enn síður skipta undanþágur sem endast ekki, nokkru einasta máli.  Og þó okkur væri sagt að við fengjum óendanlegar og ævarandi undanþágur, væri það galtómt og rakalaust þvaður.  Lykilatriðið liggur í að lögum getur verið breytt og eytt og ný lög sett að vild stjórnvalda þar, ekki okkar.  Við munum ekki hafa neitt vægi.  Þeir munu jú fara með æðsta vald, ef við verðum svo vitlaus að fara þangað inn og þar með gefa stórríkinu eftir fullveldi okkar.

The principle of European law overriding national law has actually been around since 1963, when it was decided that European law could not be applied in different ways in the Member States, without fundamentally undermining any chance of acheiving the Treaty objectives.

Treaty objectives are agreed by the member governments when a new Treaty is being drafted. The EU can only propose new laws to fulfill the completion of those Treaty objectives, and should not come out with measures outside of that framework.
